Good chord book

A small book for guitar chords for my case. It would have been better if it had a spiral binding so it would lay flat but that can be done at any stationary store. All in all it is a good presentation of many chords to practice and use.

For all those who who hated history at school, this is going to change your perception of the same. In the introduction, the narrator tells us briefly about how the Koh-i-Noor got into the hands of the East India Company and how it rests in England now. The crisp of the book is maintained in this part. William Dalrymple is an acclaimed historian and a bestselling and award-winning author whose books include City of Djinns, White Mughals, The Last Mughal, Nine Lives and Return of a King. Anita Anand has been a radio and television journalist in Britain for over twenty years, presenting major programmes on BBC. Her first book, Sophia: Princess, Suffragette, Revolutionary, is a highly acclaimed biography of the daughter of Maharaja Duleep Singh, the last ruler of Punjab, who was forced to hand over the Koh-i-Noor to the British after they annexed his kingdom in 1849.

Truly a "Sparkler" of a story

As my only previous connection to the Kohinoor was in the pages of Flashman & the Mountain of Light; this joint effort is truly an "eye-opener" on the background of this famous gem. Dalrymple continues to astound with the depth of and the variety of sources he draws upon to provide the
background of the gem obsession and gem acquisition(s) that trail the Kohinoor.
His fellow writer Anand follows up with the more "recent" life of this famous diamond. Gift, theft, acquired by devious means & where should the Kohinoor truly reside? Fair questions with enough background to allow the reader to draw his or her conclusions- regardless a "good" read on an interesting topic. Well worth one's time and energy.

Prior to joining Alibaba in 2000, PORTER ERISMAN worked for Ogilvy & Mather in Beijing. An Entreprenuer and Executive MUST read! -- Book shelf worthy.

Mr Erisman - You hit a home run. There are not many out there who know the truth behind the Alibaba story. Alibaba's World is the most genuine depiction of the most exciting global business success story - ever. Anybody who does not know the story behind the legend, and at times mythical figure - Jack Ma - needs to! Porter's book, more importantly, will inspire budding entrepreneurs to chase their dreams and tackle any challenge. While the success of the company Alibaba is now known by most, the real story is about Jack and the adverse challenges he overcame to go from a small dingy apartment to building one of the most impressive world head quarters. Without question, Alibaba's World is hands down a highly recommended read and well done piece of literature!

Alibaba and the 40 lessons

Insightful story of how Jack Ma started Alibaba. I enjoyed listening to the book, and to get a feel for the challenges how Jack Ma overcome them to start Alibaba. My 3 main takeaways are
1) Dream Big: Jack Ma's dream for Alibaba is not big.... its HUGE. When you dream big, the scary part is that you may actually accomplish it! More importantly, you will be able to attract quality people to build your dream
2) The road to success, is long and painful: It has been a journey, quite a journey for Jack and Alibaba. Success does not come overnight. It takes persistence, lots and lots of hard work, and betting big.
3) Never Give Up: Wow. For any other person besides Jack at the helm of Alibaba, the company may not have been to struggle or survive the challenges.

A great inspiritional story of success. Don't be disillusioned. Everyone wants to be successful, but not everyone is willing to put in the work or risk everything to accomplish it. A great read.

The Western press is not exactly informative, but here is the story written by a man who was involved almost from the beginning.
And it is a good read.

About the Author
J. Peter Burkholder is Distinguished Professor of Musicology at Indiana University. He has written and edited four books on Charles Ives, as well as numerous articles on topics spanning from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century for The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Journal of the American Musicological Society, Journal of Musicology, Musical Quarterly, 19th-Century Music, Music Theory Spectrum, and other journals. He has served as President, Vice President, and Director-at-Large of the American Musicological Society and on the board of the College Music Society. His writings have received awards from the American Musicological Society, the Society for American Music, and ASCAP.

Claude V. Palisca, late professor of music at Yale University, began his collaboration on A History of Western Music with the Third Edition. Among his many publications are a history of Baroque music and a collection of scholarly essays on Italian Renaissance music.
