I REFER TO THIS BOOK BEFORE EVERY MAJOR ROOF FRAMING JOB. I AM ABLE TO CUT ALL THE RAFTERS WITHOUT LEAVING THE GROUND. TEACHERS OF GEOMETRY AND TRIGONOMETRY SHOULD READ THIS BOOK IN ORDER TO GIVE THEIR STUDENTS A PRACTICAL MODEL TO UNDERSTANDING THEOREMS AND EQUATIONS. THANKS MARSHALL, YOU HAVE SAVED ME ALOT OF TIME AND MONEY.

BEST ROOF FRAMING TEACHER NO CONTEST FUN FUN FUN

...I have always been fond of the REAL carpenters that could cut roofs that would make you want to cry. It is also my personal belief that the roof makes the house. What I mean is, if you stand back and look at any house with a piece of paper covering the roof all you see is just a big box with windows and doors ! But, add a really nice roof and plain Jane becomes a castle ! I taught myself and I have used this book to teach several kids and adults that I have met through Habitat for Humanity. The best part is the Mr. Gross, he tells you first thing he wanted to be a good teacher and he has gone far beyond that ! First he takes you right into a project and you can easily teach anyone how to cut roofs (and teach yourself)by going along. I love the way he has the knack of explaining complicated math. He has done more for my ability to understand complex math than any of the college professors I have taken math classes from...I wish that one day I could met Mr. Gross, such a craftsman and such a good teacher...Good luck and remember, Jesus was a carpenter !!!!!

My most valuble tool? This book.

I have framed a lot of roofs in my 20 years as a framer. However, I always felt as if I was missing something. I knew there had to be a book that explained how to cut and fit a basic roof, with hips and valleys, mathmatically. After seventeen years of searching I found it. Much to my suprise, the book explained how to cut even the most complicated roofs, (regular or irregular). The last $750,000 house I framed was for a retired framer who now only trims the houses he build. He said he has never seen a complex roof, as straight, the cuts as good, nor one done as fast as this house. Since I have had this book I have been able to command my price, and have earned one of the best reputations in Central Kentucky. It will take the average person years to learn all the information in this book, however, after a few days of reading, one will learn more about roofs than he could imagine. I have used this book so much I have worn it out. Because I could not imagine framing with out this book, I am going order four copies today!

Love this book

Elizabeth Etienne has good, sound practical knowledge of the photography business, primarily for portrait and wedding work in this book. I thorougly enjoyed her examples and step by step warm personable writing style that makes anyone feel they can do this. After a couple more classes I hope to sign up for her coaching as well... This is an excellent book.

This book explains EVERY thing you need to know about how to start up your own photography business. From writing ideas down, to purchasing items for your photo studio, to office equipment, financial information, and where to start. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who is starting out. It helped me get a jumpstart on things I didn't even know and I know it will definitely benefit me. Getting started right now to earn that income and do my dream job!! I've been waiting for this for a long time and now I found the guide to help me!!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!

Thoroughly Ready

After being asked to shoot more and more photo jobs through word of mouth over the past two years and having people ask me to "go live" with my photography business, I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about the business of photography. This book was a great read that has inspired me to dust off my film camera from 18 years ago and shoot both film and digital. I love how thorough EE is and how she freely shared her mistakes in hopes that her readers will avoid some of, if not all of the pitfalls of being a "new" business owner in photography. I continue to book more photos jobs and am on my way to "going live". Can't believe it got this book for $.99 on Kindle. I feel like I need to buy the hardcopy as this book is a good reference tool with all of the contracts examples. Next up, EE's Engagement Photography book. I skimmed it and it too has more business information along with excellent photography information. Got this on on hard copy.

With but minimal cooperation from the company, Financial Times columnist Jackson (The Next Battleground, 1992) was obliged to rely on interviews, court papers, and on-the-record material to piece together its story. He nonetheless makes a fine job of reconstructing the high-tech enterprise's history, from its 1968 founding by Robert Noyce (co-creator of the integrated circuit) and Gordon Moore through the present day, when Pentium series chips dominate the market for PC microprocessors. Along the way, the author details how Intel achieved and sustained a leadership position by means of technical innovation, painstaking attention to fabrication techniques (which now permit millions of active transistor elements to be deposited on substrates measured in microns), the capacity to commit billions of dollars to capital investment during good times and bad, and a willingness to play rough with key employees who defect, as well as potentially troublesome rivals. Under the focused direction of CEO Andrew Grove (a refugee from Communist Hungary whose managerial style is reflected in the title of his 1996 book, Only the Paranoid Survive), Jackson shows, the transnational company does not shy from using litigation to gain or retain a competitive edge. unlike most books on corporate america or stories about how exceptional american, against all odds, achieved exceptional things, this book did not do the typical left wing liberal spin to curse corporate america or give the same old same old "capitalism is evil" speech. the narratives detailed how a group of americans, in particular Noyce, Moore and Grove, took risk and boldly "go out and do something" (to quote Noyce) which eventually created wealth for himself/herself, for the employees and for many many people around the world (intel's employees and investors locate all over the world). these are people who in Anthony Robbins' definition as people who made positive difference in a lot of peoples' life. great book, extremely motivating. five star.

A must read book to understand where it all began in silicon industry, what kind of challenges they faced and how did they resolve them. Very well written book, and one of the rare books that actually has insight into people management / relationships / politics.

Wonderful book on the inner workings of Intel. The author is knowledable and writes very clearly. A great read for someone who was in the industry during that time period.

A Handy guide for online business

The Internet is all around the world and anyone can easily be connected. And why not starting an online business from anywhere?

The authors, two succesful expat Internet entrepreneurs, explain how to make money with a laptop from anywhere in the world.

The book gives practical advice on how to create an online business, by explaining concepts and cutting out jargons and misconceptions, such as online business is not about knowing information technology. The thematics are easy to understand and technical terms are well detailed. There are six different case studies of people who have been successful. They explain how they started, their challenges, how they grow their business. And they even propose useful and precious tips to move forward in a similar business.

The reader understands the different methods and ways to earn money with affiliate marketing, copy-writing, blogging... He understands what is required, what resources to find and where.

A handy guide for anyone who would like to start an online portable business and would need a roadmap, a blueprint for existing business to become more successful.

Hang on to This one

This is one book in my collection that will get dog-eared! What a tremendous resource. I started underlining and making notes in the margin on the very first page. It's chock full of useful information for anyone working from home. I've been working freelance for almost 5 years now and it was still a goldmine for me, and also reminded me of some tried and true methods that had fallen by the wayside. I especially like the recap of resources and the case studies at the end of each chapter (my favorite one was for Market Samurai). You do need some knowledge of online marketing to understand what he's talking about in most of the book but if you're a newbie and really keen, there are enough examples and plenty of guidance for you to learn as you go.

Thanks Nick and Graham for an amazing resource!

One of the problems with so many books about starting and running online businesses is that they assume too much prior knowledge on the part of the reader. In Laptop Entrepreneur, however, the critical basics are explained simply and thoroughly so that even someone entering the online business arena for the first time will understand and feel comfortable with the whole thing. A very useful internet business "starter pack" and well worth reading whatever your level of cyberknowhow.
